How we created a blogging platform in 3 days

Riliz.co is a minimalist blogging platform with a rich text editor and custom domain features that was built out a strong need to start writing because the world still runs on SEO. People still find so many things via Google and words still rule the internet.

All that we wanted was to start writing about "How we built..." and "How to..." to share our experiences and knowledge to help others who might save some time and are in the same path as us - builders and creators.

And we did consider writing on platforms like Medium, LinkedIn, X etc, which are also pretty SEO-friendly. But we aren't writing only for SEO. We're writing to put things out in the open, like a good how-to article about where to host your images, and build a map-based discovery platform.

And equally important is where it is posted- LinkedIn, Medium and X all have its own user base, and who you want to reach, and where, is prime.

X's builder community is huge, but to gain traction on X means that you have to be loud, possibly even scream about MRR, and make a deal or two with the devil. Also articles are only for premium folks and we're not the kind to pay, definitely not to a platform like X.

Medium is a pretty decent contender considering, but having been a blogger since 2010, and having dreamt of an ideal blogging platform and having to stick with Blogger or Wordpress, created an animal of a need to create a platform to satiate some old unmet needs.

LinkedIn has become an amalgamation of advice posts, selfies that need validation, narrative walls of text, and plagiarised "for the sake of it" posts. Imagine finding a good article and being taken to LinkedIn. And that's something we din't want for Riliz, or for any of Coduo's products.

Setting up on Wordpress, Webflow or Framer could've been easier, definitely.
But not as "free" or "fun" as literally creating it.

And we have plans to re-use this writing ecosystem we've built, for changelogs and updates for our own products, and also offer it to others that need a quick and easy setup for their product releases.

(Gifs should be supported soon! :)

So, here's to anyone building an alternative product that satisfies a personal need - Cheers! ๐Ÿฅ‚ ๐Ÿป
